It has been my pleasure to support the development of Open Fairways from its inception. The earlier and now well-established editions have charted the best of golf in Europe ... so now it's time to celebrate golf in Scandinavia!Scotland and Ireland are rightly celebrated for their outstanding links courses but, and as this latest addition to Open Fairways' portfolio will testify, there is no shortage of outstanding golf in Scandinavia: for example, Barsebäck Golf & Country, Frösåker Golf & Country, Vuosaari Golf Club, Miklagard Golf etc. Open Fairways will assist golfers to experience this variety, and in so doing will guide them to every hidden corner of Europe, Asia and Australia. Within its directory pages I note there is a good sprinkling of traditional, semi-private clubs, together with a selection of the best new courses built during the last decade or so. I am particularly pleased that Chart Hills - the first golf course I designed in the UK - will now be brought to the attention of a wider audience of discerning golfers. Enjoy this edition of Open Fairways; treat it as your golfing passport to some of the finest courses to be found anywhere in Scandinavia... and, of course, play well |
