Österåkers has 2 excellent 18-hole courses, Västerled and Österled.
The names comes from the old Viking era and describe the sailing path that the Vikings used when they travelled to Uppsala. Both courses are designed by Sven Tumba with help from Jan Sederholm.
Västerled is the championship course and is of a hilly parkland character. It has narrow fairways, tight ruffs, long water pounds and very difficult green areas, particularly on the front nine. In other words, a course which challenges both the pros and the amateurs. The courses signature is the par-3s, some of the them of course with water.
Österled is more of a traditional 18-hole course with its open surroundings and genorus fairways. You will find some of Österåkers best holes on this course.
In august 2001 Österåker and Västerled hosted the European Ladies Tours Compaq Open.
